Monthly Prayer Focus

Compelled by the love of Christ, Sisters of the Cross often work in treacherous and unsanitary environments, such as slums and leprosy colonies. As a result, they can be exposed to hazards including bacteria and sickness. Their chosen ministry can be rigorous and demanding, working long hard days. They need protection from injury or disease.

Pray that God will give our Sisters good health and stamina so they can continue to minister to the people and communities God has entrusted them with.

Sisters of the Cross are essential members of GFA World's leprosy ministry. They demonstrate the tangible love of Christ by holistically meeting the people's needs. For example, these Sisters meet the spiritual needs of leprosy patients by encouraging them with God's Word and affirming them of God's love. They also meet their physical needs by tending to their wounds, bathing them, and helping clean their houses since many leprosy patients struggle with blindness, wounds, or maimed limbs and are unable to do so themselves without risking further injury.

Pray that leprosy patients will see the love of Christ in the good works that these Sisters do. Pray for the Holy Spirit to move in their lives, and for these Sisters' work to have an eternal impact.

Many Sisters of the Cross have family members who are nonbelievers. Some of their families might even oppose Christianity and try to discourage these Sisters from following Christ.

Please ask God to encourage our Sisters of the Cross to persevere in their faith, even if their families don't support them. Pray unbelieving family members hearts will soften toward Him and the work these Sisters are doing.

Sisters of the Cross minister in teams. These Sisters come from various social and economic backgrounds and have various temperaments and personalities, but they must learn to travel and minister together. Therefore, cultivating unity, respect, and friendship is very important. Jesus taught that everyone will know we are His disciples by the way we love one another (see John 13:35), so their love for one another should be evident to those whom they are demonstrating Christ's love.

Ask the Lord to help these Sisters love one another by building each other up and honoring others above themselves. Pray that they can work in unity and keep a short account of wrongs.

Sisters of the Cross commit to a minimum of three years to serve in compassion ministry. Because they work in teams that require traveling, they willingly set aside marriage until after their commitment ends. But one day, unless God calls them to remain single, they will need a godly spouse.

Pray for God to prepare godly spouses for these Sisters. Pray that their spouses will have a heart for missions and a desire to serve the Lord. Pray that their future marriages will glorify God.
